Using VPN for reducing lag?

It doesn't help at all, you just have another layer between you and lichess.
Thank you for the answer, BitChess.

I've read that there are special gaming VPN, which allow you to choose a better route to a server.

I tried a lot to find the reason why I experience some lag sometimes. On some premoves (and on usual moves, but it's easier to see it, when you do premoves) I lose some amount of time. It can be 0.2 second, 0.3, 0.1. Sometimes it can be 0.4.

When I do cmd command "ping -t lichess.org" it doesn't show any spikes, my ping is stable. I use wired connection, and in Russia I have no lag. I've played on one Russian chess site, and that was absolutely perfect.

The reason is also not in my computer.

But when I did "tracert lichess.org" I've noticed that there are some timed out requests on the route.

So I assumed it could have something to do with the route. Not my provider, probably, but with the route to Lichess server.

If I choose VPN server somewhere else, then the signal could, probably, go through another route. And occasionally you can find the best route. It will, maybe, increase your ping. It will be not 70, but 85, for example. But it would be acceptable, if this process could reduce some periodical time losses.

By the way, if I use VPN server in Sweden, it makes my ping less on 5ms. So, I think, it also can reduce ping.
I was not having problems with lag, ping 750 ms, 750 ms server.
maybe I can help you.!
send private messages, to ask it

thankyou
