Playing experience

I started to play chess at the age of 8. I earned IM and 2 GM norms. I was 2 times Romanian Junior runner-up, I played for top teams in Romania and abroad, for Trier in German Bundesliga and for Manx in 4NCL.

Teaching experience

I am FIDE Instructor and for several years I was the Federal National Trainer of Romanian Chess Federation. Many of my pupils became international title holders and medalists of the Romanian National Championships.

Other experiences

I got a Master Degree from National University of Physical Education and Sport and I published a book for chess beginners. I am also an International FIDE Organizer with dozens of competitions organized, among them Predeal Chess Festival, National Championships, World Amateur Chess Championship 2007, European Blitz and Rapid Championships for Women 2007, other open tournaments, youth competitions. I was official commentator for the match Topalov - Nisipeanu 2006.

Teaching methodology

I like to start with some kind of test for each student to see how good you are. I will make some test and give you some time to solve in different areas such as openings, middle games and endgames of course. This will help me a lot to see how strong player you are. Also I need to see some of your games played on longer time control (no less than 15 minutes per player) and also hear your comments on them, on some interesting moments during the game to see and hear how you think.

Basically there will be 2 types of lessons. I study the student's games and I usually find the weaknesses and typical mistakes which we can fix. The other type is to study something specific, an opening variation, a middlegame theme or a typical endgame.

Together with my student will plan a development strategy for 3, 6 or 12 months.
