New counter gambit against the Elephant gambit

Thanks for this. Love learning about obscure gambits and sidelines.

Not only because it gives you the option to play for Legolas gambit, which is the point of this post, but also because it is the best move :D why would you rather push the queen's pawn?

Opening the queen's pawn now has you with both bishop lanes open giving you the choice to attack early, begs the opponent to make a choice to take the queen's pawn with their centered pawn as you are now attacking theirs. If they take the pawn, you can safely take it with knight or other, or leave it. if their other pawn attacks your knight, your knight can safely take theirs on E5 and threaten F7. A number of gambits born possible from moving up that queen's pawn. My thoughts anyway. bring out dark bishop to hunt your original target or light bishop to go after king's side.

I guess if you are going to hope they won't block the E7 with their other knight then sure go ahead. But if you've already brought a bishop out to F4, something like jobava london, you can give a little more pressure on e7, maybe even dump the bishop to get them to bite.
