You Don't Get to Know Who Won the Titled Arena, Sorry.

I think it's more fun guessing who they are. Let them stay anonymous

Lots of anonymous licheess players (including me) discussing if GM's should reveal their identity :-). Why should they if we don't?

Which was why I made a point of sharing my name on an earlier post in this forum. Many Lichess users choose to share their names in their profiles so it's not a given that all of us are refusing to disclose who we are :)
@kjf
"Why should person B get to decide whether or not the identity of person A is public and not person A?"

You make perfectly reasonable points. As I say, I don't agree with you on all of them but that's ok. We don't have to agree to get along do we? :)

Coming back to your point above. I completely agree that person B shouldn't get to decide whether or not the identity of person A is public or private. Not arbitrarily anyway.

However, my point is that if person A says 'to use this service you have to validate your identity and agree to it being shared for a list of purposes disclosed in my terms of service' then that's completely fine and it's then up to person B to decide whether or not they want to take up that service.

Personally , I'd quite like to see an online chess service that made it a requirement for all members to prove and disclose their identity. I'd join that service in an instant.
In online Poker you could become a legend and attract big rails of spectators even though they did not know your real name only your Screenname like Isildur1, otb_redbaron or BERRI_SWEET. I don't see how not knowing a real name can be too bad for following online chess, as long as integrity and fair play is guaranteed.
But also in online poker, your history, your results, and your style of play can be traced through your real name. That would obviously be a serious disadvantage for a titled player to pull all of that information so neatly in one place.

I'd prefer that they use the site anonymously and the rest of us get to watch the best chess we possibly can.
