Is chess simple or difficult?

He won't. Even if chess is solved in his lifetime, which I highly doubt will happen, there's just no way one can use that solution, it will be impossible to memorize.

That's cool. Is the method just playing out all possible permutations of a board with N amount of pieces?

In theory, would either side be winning or losing or drawing? I personally don't believe the first move is enough to guarantee a win. My lame theory is that chess is a draw with perfect play.
