Actually, some of the violent icons, such as the Skewer and the Pin, have been on the site for years: lichess.org/practice

On the one side I can really understand you.
On the other side chess is somehow a brutal game. Eating meat is a brutal thing. Buying products from China, or India is somehow a brutal thing.

Don`t forget this world has also a lot of beautiful people, nature... Yin and Yang.
